Steaua Bucharest 0 - 1 Arsenal

(Tuesday 2nd October, Champions League)

Report by Chloe Walsh

On Tuesday night, Arsenal took on Steaua Bucharest in group H in the Romanian capital with an attendence of just 21,000 fans. Things were looking bad in the first few minutes as Valentin Badea scored in at the far post, but celebrations didn’t follow as the ref Terje Hauge ruled the goal offside.

Robin Van Persie scored a late 76th minute goal for the gunners which now puts arsenal top of group H,leading with 6 points.

Yellow cards of the game were given to emmanuel adebayor for arsenal, and Ionut Rada and Petre Marin foe steaua bucharest.

Adebayor Fires Arsenal to 1-3 Victory Over Tottenham

Derby day, a day in which all of first look for when the fixtures are made each summer, a game which we all want so desperartly to win. A game which we did win.

To say Arsenal didnt start the game well would be a bit unfair at the least. Our passing was flowing, our movement crisp and our chances coming and going. However, after just a quarter of an hour played, we fell behind to a Gareth Bale free-kick. Questions could be asked on Almunia's positioning of both his wall and of himself. Others gooners i've spoken to reckon Helb could have done more in the Arsenal wall, fact was Arsenal were 1-0 down as the game approached half time.

Arsenal began the second half as they ended the first...all guns blazing! I cringed as i thought it was curtains for us Gunners as Dimitar Berbatov was thwarted by a last-ditch Kolo Toure tackle followed shortly by our own Adebayor blazing ove the crossbarr. The thought of the Yids beating us for the first time in 17 attempts was becoming a reality!

But as the saying goes "Quality will always rise to the top at the finish"! And it did, Adebayor scoring the first of the comeback from a Cesc Fabregas free-kick. The irony of this goal was that the free-kick had to be re-taken after a Spurs fan invaded the pitch! Cheers Mate...

Then shortly after on 80 minutes up poped little Cesc and hit a BELTER from 20 yards out. The party wasn't finished yet however, as Adebayor scored what could be a contender for goal of the season. His first touch took him away from his marker and towards goal before he unleased a powerful drive to rub salt in already painful Tottenham wounds. The final whistle ended just after Adebayor's goal and Arsenal, yet again, proved that there is only one team in North London!!!!! Report by Daniel Alan Lyons
